AWANA

Awana

AWANA is the acronym for “Approved Workman Are Not Ashamed” which is found in II Timothy 2:15. It is a children’s/youth program focused on reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve the LORD. This is accomplished through clear, concise presentations of the gospel and Bible scripture memorization. It is a fun approach to learning God’s Word and building character through games and activities.
The three AWANA Clubs are Cubbies (for children one and two years prior to kindergarten), Sparks (kindergarten through second grade) and Truth & Training (third through fifth grade). Additionally, a nursery is provided for AWANA workers’ children. Each Club Night, the clubbers have Game Time, Handbook Time and Large Group Time.  The AWANA purpose for every segment of Club Night is “That all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ”
You can help make Calvary’s AWANA Club  a great success by volunteering and inviting children you know to come and join us each Wednesday evening.  Please volunteer to help children learn their Bible verses during Handbook Time, pray for the children and their leaders and for the AWANA Club goal of reaching boys and girls with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and training them to serve Him.
We meet every Wednesday evening from 6:15 – 7:45 PM (September through April).

The AWANA young people packed lots of shoeboxes.
“Thank you so much to everyone who helped make the Operation Christmas Child Program a huge success!   I really appreciate everything that you did to help…whether you packed a shoebox, collected boxes in the activity center or prayed over the shoeboxes, you have made a difference.  A total of 926 boxes were taken to Charlottesville on November 19th  and 158 of those shoeboxes were donated by Calvary Baptist”.  Debby Ashley
